Sella Basmati Rice Kheer

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Haizoom Sella Basmati Rice
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust according to taste)
  • 1/4 cup mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachios), chopped
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands
  • Rose water (optional)

Instructions:

  • Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large pot, bring the milk to a boil. Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot.
  • Cook the rice in milk on low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the rice is soft and the milk has thickened (approximately 30-40 minutes).
  • Add sugar, mixed nuts, raisins, cardamom powder, and saffron strands to the pot. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  • Continue to cook the kheer on low heat for another 10-15 minutes until the flavors meld together and the kheer thickens further.
  • Remove from heat and let the kheer cool slightly. It will thicken more as it cools.
  • Stir in a few drops of rose water (if using) for added fragrance.
  • Serve the Sella Basmati Rice Kheer warm or chilled, garnished with additional chopped nuts. Enjoy the creamy and delicious dessert!
